‘14344’: TVJ celebrates ‘National Dabarkads Day’ on ‘E.A.T.’
Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon—collectively known as TVJ—led the celebration of “National Dabarkads Day” on “E.A.T.,” which coincides with the 44th anniversary of “Eat Bulaga.”
During the TV5 noontime show’s episode on Saturday, July 29, the trio and their fellow hosts Jose Manalo, Allan K., Ice Seguerra, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Miles Ocampo, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Carren Eistrup and Tugue Zombie wore red shirts with varying numbers printed on it.
After the opening performances, the hosts explained that the numbers on their shirts represented the years since they first became one of the “Dabarkads.”
“Saan man kami dalhin ng tadhana, ipagdiriwang namin ang araw na naging mag-Dabarkads tayo. Dahil higit sa programa, selebrasyon ito ng ating pagkakaibigan…,” Vic said.
(Wherever fate brings us, we will celebrate the day that we became part of Dabarkads. Because more than the show, this is a celebration of our friendship.)
“Syempre ang TVJ, 1-4-3-4-4,” Vic exclaimed, saying that these numbers also meant “I love you very much.” “Lumipas man ang panahon, basta’t nandyan kayo at sama-sama tayo, hindi kami magsasawang magsabi ng 14344.”
(Of course, TVJ is 1-4-3-4-4. Time may pass, but as long as you are there and we are together, we will never get tired saying 14344.)
Former “Eat Bulaga” host Baeby Baste and former contestants joined in the fun as they participated in the segments of the show. Also present in the “National Dabarkads Day” were “TVJ Girls” Ciara Sotto, Danica Sotto, Jocas de Leon; and the wives of the comedic trio, namely Helen Gamboa, Eileen Macapagal and Pauleen Luna.
Vic and Luna also confirmed during one of the segments the actress-TV host’s second pregnancy.
“Nagsimula po kami bilang isang programa, nagpatuloy kami bilang magkakaibigan, pero pinagtibay kami ng panahon na parang magkakapatid. Ang 44 years ang naghatid sa amin dito,” Tito said.
(We started as a program and continued as friends, but we have the bond that siblings have. The past 44 years have brought us here.)
“Taos-puso po ang aming pasasalamat…dahil saan man kami dalhin, anuman ang tawag sa amin, sa amin pa rin kayo umuuwi,” De Leon, for his part, stated. (We are grateful because wherever we are and whatever we may be called, you still come home to us.)
Meanwhile, a new theme song for “Eat Bulaga” was unveiled also on Saturday to celebrate the show’s 44th anniversary. /ra
