Your favourite footballer could appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

A DATAMINE has revealed the names of new operators coming to the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, including three famous footballers.

Operators are the characters players can choose to play as in Call of Duty games, and each comes with its own set of abilities and skills.

However, among the names of currently unannounced operators discovered in the leak by a person on Twitter was a number of famous footballers.

Messi, Neymar, and Pogba were spotted on the list believed to be world famous footballers Lionel Messi, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, and Paul Pogba.

Another footballer’s name also appeared on the list. 

Reyes was believed by some to refer to José Antonio Reyes. However, as the player passed away in 2019, it is unlikely to be related to him.

The name could possibly refer to Andrés Reyes, who plays for the New York Red Bulls.

Here is the complete list of unannounced operators found in the files of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:

• Klaus
• Luna
• Messi
• Neymar
• Pogba
• Roze
• Reyes
• Gromsco

The file names could be codenames for operators and not the real names of operators that will be added to the game.

If this is the case, then the footballer’s names could have been chosen simply as recognisable placeholders.

Despite this, fans have already begun speculating that the three will be included in the game as part of an event to celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

This year the World Cup will take place in Qatar starting on November 20, just a few weeks after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on October 28.

Neymar has had his likeness used in a number of games already.

You can currently play as the Paris Saint-Germain forward in Fortnite, PUBG, Mech Arena, and of course the recently released FIFA 23.
