As a fourteen year old, looking for work experience and filling out your CV is tough and confusing as you are only just finding new opportunities and career paths. I really struggle to understand what I want to be when I am older. At school, we have to find work experience to add to our CV and apparently your work experience should correspond with what you want to be when you are older. Many of my friends seem to have it all figured out but for me, I really have no idea. I am currently studying economics which really intrigues me, however finding what you want to do from just one GCSE is not a great thing to do. My teachers keep pressing me to sign up for new things to put on my CV but I have no idea at all what direction my career is heading.
The pressure put on choosing our careers is immense and dealing with it is difficult.
In school, we have to write our CV’s for our work experience, highlighting what we do the best, our achievements and what we are studying, but knowing what to add is difficult. For example, should I add that I am doing The Young Reporter Scheme or should I add that I am captain of the netball team?
Deciding this now can really set you up for failiure if you hate what you do, in the future, I could hate the job I do but I have no credit for anything else , so finding a different career path will be very hard to accomplish.
In my opinion, I think schools across the country should let their students wait a little before putting the pressure of work experience on their shoulders and be more lenient with their actions.
