Y20 Summit 2023: IIM Raipur set to host Youth20 Consultation Event on Saturday – Times of India

RAIPUR: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur is set to host the Youth 20 (Y20) Consultation Event on Saturday to create a connection between the G20 governments and the local youth.
The year’s five themes for Youth 20 are Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation, and the 21st Century, Peace building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life, Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance, Health, Wellbeing, and Sports: An Agenda for Youth.
The Y20 Consultation Event at IIM Raipur will focus on the theme of “Peace Building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War”. The union minister for youth affairs and sports, Anurag Singh Thakur will be the chief guest at the event and part of a youth dialogue which is expected to provide valuable insights into the perspectives of young people on the role of youth in building peace and resolving conflicts.
About 250 foreign and Indian delegates, along with 75 college students from Chhattisgarh will be participating in the Y20 event at IIM Raipur campus.
IIM Raipur director Dr Ram Kumar Kakani, said, “War is not the answer for the future generation. The Y20 summit consultation process is a perfect platform for the youth to share their voice and to ensure that this fantastic peace building process on complex and interconnected issues is viewed nicely in the modern-day schools of thought.”
The conference will be attended by dignitaries from across the world, including Renuka Singh, MoS, tribal affairs, Gol, who will deliver the guest of honour address. The conference will feature several panel discussions, keynote speeches, and experience-sharing sessions. The first panel discussion will focus on channelizing youth in conflict resolution, featuring renowned panelists such as Rob York, director, regional affairs, Pacific Forum, USA, Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Ex-CS, Assam, Bodoland peace negotiator, Dr Mohit Garg, IPS, SP, Balrampur, frontline LWE experience, Reinhard Baumgarten, reputed journalist, international conflict zones, Germany, and Priyanka Bissa, Youth icon, Nehru Yuva Kendra, with Moderator: Dr Prem Singh Bogzi, visiting distinguished professor, IIM Raipur. The keynote speech will be delivered by Rob York, who will speak about international models of peace building. The experience-sharing panel will focus on peace-making, peace building, and peacekeeping, featuring Brigadier Basant K Ponwar, (Retd.), AVSM, VSM, Ex-Director, Counter-Terrorism and Jungle Warfare College, Ratan Lal Dangi, IPS, Director, CG State Police Academy, Mohd. Aijaz Asad, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Arlo Larde, Y20 Delegate, France, and a college representative with Moderator: Rajat Bansal, TAS, DC. Balodabazar. The third panel discussion will explore building consensus among communities, featuring Nitesh Kumar Sahu, Youth leader, Mungeli, Chhattisgarh, Dr Philippe Eyebe Awono, Asst. Professor, Jean Moulin University, Mitsuki Suda, President, Y7/20223 Japan, B Markam, Transformed community influencer, and Dr Aditi Narayani, Track Chair, Peace building and Reconciliation, with Moderator: Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, IAS, DC Raipur.
The Y20, which was established in 2012, is the youthful counterpart to the G20 Summits, and it is the solitary formally recognized platform that provides a means for young people to interact with the G20. As one of the most influential international diplomatic forums for emerging leaders, it is part of a group of eight official engagement groups that operate under the umbrella of the G20.
