Xperia 5 IV New Leaks Reveal a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus Chipset and Other details

Sony is one of the first companies to enter the smartphone market, but it couldn’t hold its position due to unprecedented competition. However, it has made its comeback in the recent years with Sony Xperia 1 and the Xperia 5 series, matching up to its Android competitors. The upcoming smartphone from the company is the Sony Xperia 5 IV and it is a highly anticipated flagship that will be announced soon.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset in Sony Xperia 5 IV

The Sony Xperia 5 IV has generated a decent amount of hype recently and the credit to this can be given to recent leaks and rumors surrounding the features and specifications of the smartphone. One of the leaks that has garnered the most attention is the chipset that the new smartphones is being scheduled to be shipped with.

Earlier reports and leaks suggested that the Sony Xperia 5 IV will be released with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. A new leak suggests that the company will be dropping this chipset for a more upgraded chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset.

Camera details and other leaked features

Other features and hardware updates have also been provided through leaks and rumors. As the Sony Xperia 5 IV is a smaller version of the Sony Xperia 1 IV, it will be sharing most of its features with this device. Firstly, the camera setup of the upcoming smartphone will remain the same as the Sony Xperia 5 III. It will have a triple lens setup at the rear, with 12-megapixel primary shooter, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 12-megapixel 3x optical zoom lens.

The Sony Xperia 5 IV is speculated to have a 6.1-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. No leaks for the battery have arrived yet, but it is assumed that the battery will be slightly bigger than its predecessor, Sony Xperia 5 III, which had a battery size of 4500 mAh.

As of now the release date for the Sony Xperia 5 IV hasn’t been provided, but many are speculating that the smartphone will share the same launch window as its predecessor. The Sony Xperia 5 III was launched in October of last year and the same window can be assumed for this year for Sony Xperia 5 IV.
