As Cable wraps his entire Dawn of X solo adventures, the time-traveling mutant may have brought back a cosmic superhero.

Ever since the young Cable made his own on Krakoa at the start of Dawn of X, his adventures have been linked to a powerful, cosmic sword he recovered in the untamed wilds of the island’s jungle. Cable quickly learned that the Sword of Light was forged by the Galadorians, an extraterrestrial race that patrolled the cosmos as the SpaceKnights. And while the SpaceKnights were explosively wiped out in an armed conflict with Cable over the fate of Earth, the recently resurrected older, classic Cable may have just planted the seeds for Galador and the SpaceKnights return to the Marvel Universe.
When Kid Cable first arrived in the main Marvel Universe’s timeline before Dawn of X, the first thing he did was murder his older counterpart as part of his plans to restore damages made to the space-time continuum. After making a name for himself on Krakoa, Cable and his resurrected older doppelgänger joined forces to take on their mutual evil duplicate Stryfe in a bloody showdown that left Stryfe gunned down, Kid Cable back on Krakoa and the older Cable in possession of the Sword of Light. Finding a remote planet on the other side of the cosmos, Cable planted the sword in the ground and kickstarted a new race of Galadorians growing as he left for parts unknown.
After first acquiring the Sword of Light, Kid Cable inadvertently sent out an energy signal that alerted the SpaceKnights to the blade’s presence on Earth. Confronting Cable, the group of cosmic warriors revealed that Galador had since become completely uninhabitable and that they were all that was left of their once highly advanced civilization. The SpaceKnights were intent on using the Sword of Light to completely terraform Earth to match that of Galador so they could rebuild their race, albeit while eradicating Earth’s native population and environment in the process. Instead, Kid Cable lured the would-be eradicators to a remote desert where they were destroyed by a tactical nuclear bomb, seemingly rendering the Galadorians extinct and with Cable now the undisputed wielder of the Sword of Light just in time for the crossover event “X of Swords.”
As an older, more world-weary iteration of Nathaniel Summers, the classic Cable sees his younger counterpart’s nuclear tactics as something of an overreaction, even if the SpaceKnights were plotting to wipe out humanity and mutantkind in order to rebuild their home world. Whereas Kid Cable acted impulsively by employing the easiest, quickest strategy he saw to turn the tables on the SpaceKnights, the older Cable is more interested in the consequences of suddenly rendering an entire species extinct, save for one vengeful survivor, and quietly undoes what his younger self hadn’t had the patience or insight for when dealing with SpaceKnights.
It is unclear how long it will take for Galador to be restored to its former glory and how soon it will be until Earth encounters the new generation of SpaceKnights but life is already starting to visibly take root and grow where the older Cable planted the Sword of Light. The most iconic SpaceKnight of them all, Rom, was a prominent fixture in the Marvel Universe’s superhero community for a time and while Rom has been missing for sometime — both due to narrative and behind-the-scenes legal reasons regarding his licensing — Cable has just set the stage for a successor to eventually take his place.
