WWE 2K22: Rey Mysterio Showcase mode matches REVEALED – HBK, Undertaker and more

WWE 2K22: Rey Mysterio Showcase mode matches REVEALED – HBK, Undertaker and more

The WWE 2K22 cover star and release date have been officially revealed.

Confirming earlier leaks, 2K Sports has announced plans to make Rey Mysterio the WWE 2K22 cover star.

The WWE legend will also star in the game’s Showcase mode, where fans will be able to relive some of Mysterio’s most famous matches.

In a recent press conference attended by Express Online, Rey Mysterio revealed more details about the game’s highly anticipated Showcase mode.

The former WWE champion confirmed that Showcase mode would include his match against Eddie Guerrero from Wrestlemania 21.

Mysterio described the match against Eddie as his first Wrestlemania moment with the WWE.

Showcase mode will also include Rey Mysterio’s emotional match against HBK Shawn Michaels during the Eddie Guerrero tribute show on Raw.

Elsewhere, Rey Mysterio’s Showcase mode will contain his match against The Undertaker from the 2010 Royal Rumble.

While other matches are yet to be officially revealed, it’s likely the mode will include Rey’s title win at Wrestlemania 22, and his tag team title win with his son Dominik.

Speaking of Dominik, Rey Mysterio said he hopes to have a Wrestlemania moment with his son in the future, and would also like Dominik to induct him into the Hall of Fame one day.

Speaking about WWE 2K22’s MyFaction mode – where players can put together a stable of wrestlers – Mysterio revealed his pick for a dream group.

Perhaps surprisingly, Mysterio said his dream faction would include Mr Perfect, Bam Bam Bigelow and Macho Man Randy Savage.

In terms of modern wrestlers, Mysterio could see himself leading a group containing his son Dominik and Damian Priest.

The WWE 2K series has been on a break since the release of the poorly received WWE 2K20.

2K Sports has used the additional time to improve the experience, and to ensure there are fewer bugs and glitches.

According to 2K Sports, the new WWE game will use similar graphics engine as NBA 2K. This includes next-gen trappings such as realistic lighting and animations.

The game also benefits from a robust creation suite, which lets players tweak every aspect of their custom superstars.

MyGM mode returns with even more options, alongside myFaction and the myRise career mode.
