Woman issues warning after being banned from flight due to very simple mistake

A WOMAN has warned passengers about a simple airport mistake that can get them kicked off their flight and possibly incur further punishment.

A number of passport rules can make life difficult for Brits heading abroad this summer, so it’s important to check which ones apply before a trip away.

One person who should have done that is Tiktoker Emma (@emmafituk_) who found out about the rules the hard way when she was denied access to her flight to Bali.

In a video she revealed that a slight bit of damage to her passport meant she was unable to board her plane and instead had to stay at Sydney airport from where she was due to take off.

She claims that she was told her trip could have ended in a cell had she been permitted to get on the flight.

She said: “I’ve just been rejected on my flight to Bali and I’m currently stranded in the middle of Sydney airport, no idea what to do, or where to go.

“I literally got told that if they’d let me into Bali, the military and the security in the airport would have put me into a cell.

“Basically, there was a tiny bit of water damage at the bottom of my passport. I didn’t even notice it. I travel all the time and it’s never been mentioned to me before.

“But apparently Bali airport are really, really strict and they are known for putting people into a cell if they don’t like your passport.

“Obviously I’m really upset. I’m literally gutted I’ve just been sat here crying for the last 10 or 15 minutes.

“But I’m just going to tell myself that everything happens for a reason and I wasn’t meant to get on a flight today.

“I guess if you guys are heading into Bali, just make sure you triple check your passport, that there is no damage, no marks, no water or anything on your passport because the state won’t let you in.

“And if they do, you will end up in a Bali cell.”

The video has been seen more than a million times, with some people sharing stories of their trips to Bali being blocked for similar reasons.

Others meanwhile were just shocked by what they had heard.

One said: “My partner’s passport page was a little bit ripped and they also didn’t let him board the flight to Bali.”

Another wrote: “My friend had this happen. They put him on a return flight home that night.”

A third added: “This is terrifying – had no idea that was even a thing.”

Emma isn’t the only person to have had their trip to Bali ruined because of a slight passport problem.

Matt Vandenberg was travelling on the same route from Sydney to Bali to celebrate a friend’s wedding.

However, after arriving at the airport for his 6am Jetstar flight, he was allowed to board – only to run into problems at Indonesian customs.

He explained on Twitter: “One of my best mates is getting married on Friday in Bali, so obviously all the lads and I have flown over.

“I take the 6am flight out, Jetstar – everyone well behaved, staff were great.

“So I arrive at DPS, pay my visa, present my passport, get brought over to the immigration office who alerts me I have a 1cm tear on my passport page.

“Get brought into an office to be told that my passport’s tear isn’t acceptable and I won’t be allowed into the country – and my passport will be confiscated until I get on a flight home tonight.”
