A 43-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly embezzling more than $200,000 from a Stellantis dealership in Dundee, Mich., according to a Dundee Police Department Facebook post. Dundee is about 50 miles southwest of Detroit near the Ohio border.
Allison Stewart of Manchester, Mich., was arraigned Friday on one charge of embezzlement over $100,000, a felony, according to Monroe County Chief Prosecutor Michael Roehrig.
If convicted, Stewart faces up to 20 years in prison, plus fines.
Stewart allegedly stole the money from Williams Brothers Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram in 2019, while she was an employee, police said.
It wasn’t clear what Stewart’s position was at the dealership or how long she worked there.
A sales manager at the dealership did not return messages seeking comment.
Following an investigation by the Dundee Police and fraud investigators at the National Insurance Crime Bureau, police were able to obtain a warrant for the woman’s arrest, according to the Facebook post.
However, she disappeared after the warrant was issued in 2022, police said. In coordination with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, police were able to locate her last week after receiving a tip.
A probable cause conference for Stewart is scheduled for March 14, Monroe County District Court records show.
