Wild knockout cements Tszyu’s next opponent

Australian boxing champion Tim Tszyu may have just learned who his next opponent will be – and it’s exactly what he wished for.

American slugger Jermell Charlo became the first undisputed four-belt super-welterweight champion when he stopped Brian Castano in an epic.

The pair – who were squaring off for the second time – punched on wildly for nine rounds, before Charlo took control in the 10th and knocked his opponent down twice, the second time forcing the referee to end it.

It was the left hook of Charlo that floored Castano, whose legs gave way after half an hour of brutality.

The victory leaves Charlo holding all four belts in the division, which is the first time that’s been achieved.

And for Aussie boxer Tszyu, it means his next likely opponent is Charlo.

Tszyu is the mandatory super-welterweight challenger, and a bout with Charlo looms in which the Aussie will be striving to bring all the belts Down Under.

Speaking before Sunday’s fight, Tszyu revealed it was Charlo he was barracking for.

“I’m hoping Charlo wins, just because I’d love to fight him and smack him out,” Tszyu told Showtime.

Australia’s eyes will now be on the states waiting for confirmation of a fight between Tszyu and Charlo.
