Who won the Grand National last year? List of previous winners
One of the most significant horse racing events of the entire calendar – The Grand National – is taking place today (Saturday, April 15) at its traditional home of Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool.
This year’s event will mark the 175th time the race has been held, and it has seen some iconic winners in its time, including the unmatched historic treble secured by legendary racehorse Red Rum when he won the Grand National in 1973, 1974 and 1977 (also coming second in the 1975 and 1976).
40 horses will be competing in this year’s event, starting at 5.15pm and being broadcast to millions around the country.
