Born as Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja on July 28, 1983, in Chennai, Dhanush is a popular actor, producer, and playback singer. He made his acting debut with the Tamil film Thulluvadho Ilamai in 2002, but he gained widespread recognition and success with his breakthrough role in the critically acclaimed film Kadhal Kondein (2003).
Some of his notable films include Pudhupettai, Aadukalam (for which he won Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil), Velaiilla Pattadhari (VIP), Asuran, Maari and Maari 2. He has also worked in many Bollywood films such as Raanjhanaa (2013) for which he won the Best Male Debut Award at the 59th Filmfare Awards. He was also seen in Atrangi Re (2021) with Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Dhanush is known for his versatile acting skills and ability to portray diverse characters convincingly.
Celebrating his 40th birthday today, let us look at when Dhanush spoke about his Hollywood debut with The Grey Man.
In an exclusive interview with Filmfare, when the actor was asked if he were to be cast in a superhero film, which character would you pick?, to which he said, “I would rather have a superhero character developed for me, an Indian superhero.”
When asked about his experience of shooting an extensive fight sequence with Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas, Dhanush said, “The stunt choreographers, James and Mark, were really awesome and made the whole process really smooth in how I learnt and what I learnt. All the actors had trained really hard, and there were a lot of rehearsals, but when we went on the floor, it all just exploded.”
He also stated that working with Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas was a great experience, they were kind and professional and he had a great time.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Dhanush will next be seen in Tamil period action adventure, Captain Miller. He also has the Hindi film Tere Ishk Mein in his kitty.
