WhatsApp rolls out premium plan for business accounts

Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp has reportedly started rolling out ‘WhatsApp Premium’ feature for business accounts.

With WhatsApp Premium, businesses will get advanced features such as a better way to be reached by customers and some improvements when linking new devices,
according to WABetaInfo.

As per the report, WhatsApp is releasing the subscription plan for certain businesses that install the latest beta version of the Android and iOS app available on the Play Store and TestFlight.

WhatsApp Premium is an optional premium plan available for certain business accounts they can join by opening WhatsApp Settings.

If there is a new section called “WhatsApp Premium” here, it means the business account is eligible to join the plan, the report said.

When a business joins WhatsApp Premium by paying a subscription fee that may vary by country, it is possible to use two new advanced services — a custom business link and important improvements for multi-device. WhatsApp Premium is only an optional plan to give some features to businesses that need certain advanced services.

Notably, WhatsApp has also rolled out a host of new features for all users.

WhatsApp has started a
phased rollout of its Call links feature, which lets users create a call link under the Calls tab, like a Google Meet or Zoom call, and share it with friends and family, for a group video call. Even people without WhatsApp accounts can join the call after downloading the app.

WhatsApp has also expanded the file size limit to 2GB from 100MB. Users can share bigger files, documents and other multimedia content with friends and family.
