We turned an old caravan into a boutique hotel suite & now make £140 a night

THREE friends worked together over the pandemic to give an old static caravan a huge makeover.

Anna Hart, Emma Jane Palin, and Whinnie Williams, bought the pre-loved holiday home for £24,000 in October 2020.

Together, they worked hard to transform the shabby caravan into a stunning holiday hideaway in Margate, splashing out £12,000 on the works.

They went to Hull and bought a run-down beige caravan, ready to be revamped.

Emma said: “Renovating our preloved Willerby BK Bluebird was the perfect lockdown project.”

“We wanted to find an unloved, older model and show people how this humble caravan can be thoughtfully transformed into a glamorous holiday home.”

Every detail of their renovation was thought through, with the women finding inspiration from a number of places.

Whinnie said: “We’ve upcycled as much as possible, sourcing vintage fabrics from our favourite junk stores around Margate, scouring eBay and Facebook marketplace, and we even found our brass kitchen sink in a skip.”

“We’ve tried to DIY things as much as possible to show people that anyone can bring Hollywood vibes into even the smallest of spaces.”

The open plan living room and kitchen has been stripped of it’s beige furnishings and been transformed by patterned tiles and chequerboard flooring.

Each of the bedrooms was inspired by a slice of American culture with one paying tribute to Elvis Presley’s Graceland.

There’s also an 8-seater sofa, a kitchen island, an upcycled table, a bathroom and a cloakroom toilet.

The friends have dubbed it: “Pontins meets Palm Springs.”

Situated at Birchington Vale Holiday Park, the caravan can host 6 people at any given time.

It’s a 10-minute drive from Margate, and a stone’s throw from other attractions such as Alpaca Trekking, pony pamper sessions, an adventure golf course, and a Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial museum.

One night stays start from £140 per night, while other caravans on the site charge £62 per night.

While it’s closed for the remainder of the winter, it’ll be opening its doors again on March 1, 2023, and guests can book to stay via Airbnb.
