Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi have turned from friends to sworn enemies competing for a mainstay spot at a TV show in the trailer for their first film together, “Partners In Crime.”

The official trailer, released on Star Cinema’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, Dec. 7, gives a peek at the rivalry between Jack (Vice Ganda) and Barbara (Ivana Alawi).

Jack, who works as a host of the show “Happy Hour with Jack”, is forced to take a break for two weeks to recover from a sore throat. Prior to his appointment with the doctor, he was informed by a colleague (Candy Pangilinan) that the show dropped by one percent in ratings.

The staff of “Happy Hour with Jack” was then suggested to look for a suitable replacement until Jack recovers. In a twist of fate, the host crosses paths with Barbara (Ivana Alawi) who’s determined to steal his spot.

Jack soon recalls his memories with Barbara in a flashback scene shown in the trailer, where they dreamed of becoming TV hosts using the moniker “JaBar.”

“Bilang na ang mga araw mo, Jack (Your days are numbered, Jack),” Barbara says, threatening her ex-friend.

“Pagsisisihan mong kinalaban mo ako, Rose (You’re going to regret facing me, Rose),” Jack responds.

“Partners In Crime” is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, and is one of the entries in the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) which will run from Dec. 25, 2022 to Jan. 7, 2023.

Other films included in the annual MMFF are Nadine Lustre’s “Deleter”; Jake Cuenca and Dimples Romana’s “My Father, Myself”; Toni Gonzaga and Joey De Leon’s “My Teacher”; Ian Veneracion and Heaven Peralejo’s “Nananahimik ang Gabi”; as well as Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria’s “Labyu with an Accent”. EDV
