The road markings are worn away and not clear at all – so rather than stop, the Merc continues along unaware of the approaching van.

As the white Mercedes crosses the main road it collides with the van causing severe damage to both vehicles.

The video shows the Mercedes looking in a particular sorry state after the crash, with the rear almost completely destroyed.

The Highway Code says: “You MUST stop behind the line at a junction with a ‘Stop’ sign and a solid white line across the road. Wait for a safe gap in the traffic before you move off.”

In this case though it appears that the Mercedes driver was unaware of the need to slow and come to a stop.

It’s also unclear what the camera operator was doing at the junction in the first place.

The video uploaded by @danparking to TikTok has gone viral on social media – with more than 1.8 million views and 53,200 likes.

However, users are divided after watching the footage.

One said: “For the non-brits, the merc is coming out of a side road, so is required to stop at the line and look – and the van is on the main road.”

Another said: “There’s no stop sign, so that it would be the van’s fault.”

A third pointed out: “Merc at fault, but I don’t see a stop sign, and the road markings are nearly rubbed away.”

This comes after a shocking video of two cars involved in a huge collision at a T-junction emerged on social media.

Plus, CCTV caught the moment a dozy driver pulled out of a junction without stopping causing a nasty accident.
