Walmart recruits ‘Office Space’ cast for Black Friday ads

I believe they have staplers.

The holidays came early this year for fans of the 1999 comedy “Office Space” with Gary Cole, Diedrich Bader and Ajay Naidu starring in ads for Walmart.

Inspired by the movie’s case against Mondays, Walmart is offering savings events each Monday of November in addition to the traditional Black Friday. Walmart+ members get the deals hours before regular folk.

The first of several episodic ads starts with the receptionist at Initech, the same office in the film, answering phone calls as Cole, who played boss Bill Lumbergh, saunters past her.

Never mind the office burnt to the ground at the end of the Mike Judge movie. Naidu and Cole also seem to have resumed their daily duties.

Naidu, who played tech worker Samir Nagheenanajar in the film, is busy on a Zoom call with Michael Bolton, the real Bolton, as actor David Herman portrayed the lesser Bolton in the cult classic.

“Tell me how Black Friday deals are on a Monday,” Bolton sings to the tune of “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You” at the end of the commercial.

The first Walmart “Black Friday Deals for Days” event starts online Nov. 7, at 7 pm EST for most shoppers and at noon EST for Walmart+ members.
