Video from 2013 shared as late actor Dilip Kumar’s last moments – Alt News

Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7, 2021, at the age of 98. His death sent shockwaves across the film fraternity and left fans in mourning. Hundreds took to social media to offer their condolences and tribute posts to the legendary actor.

Amidst this, a video is being circulated widely on social media where Dilip Kumar is seen sitting on a hospital bed with his wife Saira Banu standing beside him. The footage is being shared as his final moments. Times Group’s entertainment channel ‘ETimes’ posted the clip with the same claim. The accompanying caption contains the hashtag ‘#Throwback’.

Facebook page Telly Tashan also posted the visuals as Kumar’s last video inside the hospital before his demise.

India.com shared the video and wrote, “#Throwback: Last moments of #DilipKumar with his wife #SairaBanu.” (Archive link)

Several Facebook users have promoted the same claim.

A number of verified YouTube channels including ‘Event Talkies‘, ‘Filmy Crazy‘, ‘Bol Bollywood‘ and ‘Movie Talkies‘ also shared the visuals as the last video of Dilip Kumar from the hospital.

Alt News performed a reverse image search of stills from the viral clip, which led us to some reports from September 2013. According to a story in The Indian Express dated September 24, 2013, this video was taken when Dilip Kumar was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. He had been admitted there on September 15, 2013.

The video was tweeted from his official Twitter handle on September 22, 2013.

The handle also tweeted a photo of the actor’s last few moments in which his spouse Saira Banu was also seen. However, the couple has donned different clothes than the ones they have worn in the clip in question.

Despite adding ‘#Throwback’ to their posts, ETimes and India.com promoted the video as Dilip Kumar’s last moments with Saira Banu. The video is eight years old.

Earlier in May, a video of journalist Navin Kumar criticising the state of affairs in the country due to COVID was shared as late Aaj Tak anchor Rohit Sardana’s final moments.
