V Rising: Secrets of Gloomrot – Five Tips On Getting Started

Secrets of Gloomrot, V Rising’s first major expansion, is out today. The update brings many relevant changes to the game, including a new biome, new bosses and enemy types, a revamped spells system, new weapons, multi-level castles, significant progression adjustments, and more. Therefore, the official servers will undergo a reset at launch. To ensure you are not caught unprepared with all these changes in the V Rising expansion, check our Gloomrot tips and tricks.

Don’t rush into the game

You may already know V Rising and the world of Vardoran quite well by now, but Secrets of Gloomrot brings plenty of significant changes to the gameplay. You will find a new region, Gloomrot, divided into Gloomrot North and South, but also new weapons, enemies, and more. Take your time to experience all these new additions to their fullest without necessarily rushing toward the new biome in your first hours of playing. You’ll be starting from Farbane Woods, and it’s a long way to Gloomrot, full of enemies that won’t hesitate to attack you. If you’re under-leveled, you will easily perish multiple times.

Don’t forget about Journal Quests

Journal Quests play a crucial role in V Rising, allowing you to unlock new blueprints and abilities to further progress in the game. If you haven’t played the game in a while, they will help you get familiar with its mechanics again, including crafting and resource gathering. On the other hand, if you’re already a V Rising veteran, you’ll go through them in no time. Either way, don’t neglect them. To speed up the process, you can check how to get Copper and Leather, two of the most important materials in the game’s early stages.

Get used to the new weapons

V Rising: Secrets of Gloomrot introduces two new weapons, the Greatsword and the Dual Pistols. Their recipes can be unlocked upon beating two bosses, respectively Tristan the Vampire Hunter and Jade the Vampire Hunter. Once you obtain them, take your time to practice with their timings and mechanics, especially if you play on a PvP server. They are both quite powerful but can take some time to master. The Greatsword, in particular, does a ton of damage, but it can be quite slow, so you could easily expose yourself to opponents’ attacks while you get ready to hit them.

Get familiar with the revamped spells system

The spells system has undergone a major revamp with the Gloomrot update. Every spell school now has a passive effect that will be triggered when launching a spell. For example, Blood Magic has Leech, which, as the name suggests, drains lifeforce from your opponents for 5 seconds. Moreover, if you hit a Leeched foe with a physical attack, this will restore 7% of the damage dealt. There is also a brand new spell school, Storm, which includes many different interesting abilities, including Polarity Shift. This launches a projectile that deals significant magic damage, and you and your target swap locations. Moreover, it inflicts Static, the passive tied to Storm Magic, which electrifies your enemy, causing physical and magic damage. Jewels also play a significant role in this, as they can improve and modify the effects of your spells. Many different combinations can be triggered with them.

Choose your territory carefully

The Gloomrot update also introduces a revamped territory system. When you place your Castle Hearth, you directly claim that entire area now, eliminating the need to expand your zone inch by inch. You can look at the map to quickly know which territories are free and which are already claimed by opponents. Once you are settled, you will be able to build multi-level castles, up to three floors, allowing you to have much more vertical space for your items.
