USA cricketer blasts six sixes in an over

A little-known USA batsman has cannoned into elite company, joining limited-overs greats Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard.

Jaskaran Malhotra has become just the fourth man to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket, producing the heroics in a one-day match between the USA and Papua New Guinea in Oman.

After PNG won the toss and elected to bowl, Malhotra walked to the crease at 3-29 during the ninth over and blasted 173 runs off just 124 balls, becoming the first USA cricketer to notch an ODI century.

His six sixes in an over came off the bowling of paceman Gaudi Toka.

“A magic innings,” USA Cricket posted on Twitter.

Gibbs became the first man to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket in 2007, obliterating Dutch spinner Daan Van Bunge during the ODI World Cup in the West Indies.

Singh then hit six sixes in an over during the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa, tonking English seamer Stuart Broad.

And Pollard became the third man to achieve the feat when he unleashed on Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya in the West Indies in March this year.
