Uber CEO says ‘zero truth’ to report claiming it explored India business sale

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said a news report claiming Uber had explored a sale of its India ride-hailing business was untrue.

“..there is zero truth to this story – wasn’t explored, wasn’t considered, discussions didn’t happen, at any level..,” he posted on the social media platform Twitter.

The report, which was published by news wire Bloomberg on Thursday morning, said the American ride-hailing company explored various options for its Indian ride-hailing business, including a sale, but suspended discussions after tech startup valuations cratered.

According to the report, Uber began weighing alternatives and reached out to several interested parties after recognising it had limited potential for profitable expansion in the country.

The company competes with Bengaluru-based ride-hailing firm Ola in India.
