TUI scraps face masks on more flights ahead of Easter hols – find out which here

TUI has relaxed its face mask policy for passengers onboard some of its flights.

Earlier this month, the travel operator scrapped its mandatory face mask rule for passengers on TUI flights to and from England and Northern Ireland.

However, face coverings were still mandatory for people flying to and from Wales and Scotland.

But now, the airline has updated its policy to extend the relaxation of its mandatory face mask policy to passengers flying to and from Wales.

On the TUI website, it states: “It’s no longer a legal requirement for those travelling to or from England, Wales or Northern Ireland to wear a face mask during their TUI Airways flight, but, in accordance with UK government and EU Charter guidance, we do still strongly recommend that you do so.”

The rule change has not been extended to Scotland so passengers must continue to wear a mask if there are flying to or from there.

The website continued: “If you’re flying to or from Scotland, everyone aged 12 and over needs to wear a face mask during their flight, including while sleeping, unless you’re exempt due to a medical condition.

“Your face mask must cover your nose, mouth and chin. You can wear a face shield, but you’ll need to wear a face mask too.”

Other airlines have also ditched mandatory face masks in recent weeks.

Jet2 and easyJet have binned the policy, and Ryanair is expected to follow suit.

British airways announced it was scrapping mandatory masks earlier this month, however, the airline has now updated its website and states that Brits will still need to wear a mask if they are flying to one of 50 countries.

Those include popular holiday destinations Spain, France, Italy, the US, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.

Brits travelling with BA in the coming weeks are warned their flight might be disrupted.

The airline is has reduced its schedule between now and the end of May, with Brits on affected flights over Easter rebooked on alternative seats.
