Research from Informi has found that as many as one in five UK workers say they have a second job on the side of their main source of income, with potential earnings of £4,992 over the course of a year.

Profits from a side hustle will depend on the amount of time you invest, but just one hour, five days a week, could help you earn anywhere from £175 additionally each month.

Huw Moxon, marketing manager at Informi said:

“Over the last year, regular pay has improved by 6.7 percent. However, consumer price inflation has grown at a rate of 9.2 percent.

“It’s no wonder more and more people are looking for ways to make money.”

Mr Moxon continued: “It’s no surprise that with the Cost of Living crisis that many of us are looking for ways to make more money.

“There’s so much information available on how to get started, but the important part is to take the time to pick what side hustle best suits your lifestyle, goals, and the time you have available.”

The cost of living crisis is forcing many people to take on extra work to earn more money in order to pay for rising bills.

Working as a delivery driver for companies like Uber or JustEat, taking on freelance work or consulting, drop shipping or tutoring are just some of the ideas website My Millennial Guide has suggested.

An average monthly income for this type of work is £123 but people can make up to £5,000 in a month.

Tutoring is also a good way to earn an extra income and Britons can sign up to a site like Skillshare or TaskRabbit to find work and bid on jobs.
