Tom Cruise parties with David Walliams at Sir Michael Caine’s 90th birthday bash
Many were left baffled when the man Steven Spielberg credited for ‘saving cinema’ didn’t show at the Oscars on Sunday night, but don’t worry – he had his reasons.
The 60-year-old star was filming the upcoming installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Dead Reckoning Part 2, which is due to be released in 2024.
But the Jerry Maguire star took time out of his busy schedule on Tuesday night to pose for snaps with former Britain’s Got Talent judge David, 51, and his pal Sir Michael on his big birthday, which he appeared to celebrate with an intimate dinner.
The children’s author took to social media with some snaps of him posing with the Minority Report star and Hollywood veteran Sir Michael.
The trio are all smiles in the various snaps, a few of which show Tom and Sir Michael sitting side-by-side looking to be enjoying each other’s company.
David only appears in one of his carousel of snaps, standing behind Sir Michael and Tom as they all grinned at the camera.
Sir Michael looked to be making a speech at the table in one of the shots, as he held a microphone as the appreciative dinner guests watched on.
It looked to be a star-studded event, and even Loose Women star Denise Welch, 64, was in attendance.
Denise took to social media to mark the event with an adorable selfie of her hugging Sir Michael from behind as he sat at the table.
She wrote alongside the image: ‘Happy 90th birthday Michael Caine!!! We love you.’
No stranger to chilling with the stars, Denise was also snapped hanging out with Taylor Swift and Charli XCX at her son Matty Healy’s The 1975 gigs.
Meanwhile, Sir Michael was recently pictured with disgraced former Prime Minister Liz Truss in a combination we never thought we’d see.
Tom’s outing comes after director Steven credited him and Top Gun: Maverick, which he starred in and produced, for saving cinema.
Steven said to Cruise at the 2023 Academy Luncheon: ‘You saved Hollywood’s a**, you might have saved theatrical distribution.’
Although the sequel to 1986’s Top Gun missed out on a best picture Oscar, it received the gong for best sound.
The film was a huge box office success as the highest grossing theatrical release in 2022.
