Detectives are investigating the case of a 22-month-old girl who was found unresponsive on a property in southeast Victoria.

The child was rushed to the intensive care unit at Latrobe Regional Hospital at 10.45pm on Friday, November 12, and continues to be in a serious but stable condition two weeks later.

She was bought in by her mother and the mother’s friends after the girl was found suffering life-threatening injuries at an Ashworth Drive property in Traralgon.

The regional town is located in the Gippsland region of Victoria and is one of the biggest cities in the area.

Police media say she currently remains in a serious but stable condition and is recovering at a metropolitan hospital.

At this stage it’s unclear whether the injuries will have a “permanent or long-lasting impact on her life,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

Speaking to 9News, Detective Senior Sergeant Geoffrey Rumble said officers are extremely concerned with her injuries.

“We just hope the child does recover,” he said.

“We’ve got real concerns about the injuries that the baby suffered.”

Currently investigators have spoken to a number of people in connection to the case, with officers seizing a several items from the Traralgon property.
