Thursday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 6 Buccaneers-Eagles Showdown tournaments

The Eagles welcome the Buccaneers to the City of Brotherly Love for Week 6’s Thursday Night Football showdown. Sportsbooks opened the matchup with totals as high as 53 and Tampa as a 7.5-point. Vegas totals — and some of the advanced metrics — paint the picture of a high-scoring affair. That could certainly be the case, but given Tom Brady’s (minor) thumb injury, but it’s worth considering scenarios in which the Bucs ease the load on Brady by leaning on their run game. We’re banking on that playing out with our Captain pick for this DraftKings Showdown lineup, but as with all NFL DFS rosters, our picks cover an array of potential producers.

Here are the scoring settings to know for DraftKings Showdowns: It’s full-point PPR, and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Buccaneers vs. Eagles

$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.

Captain (1.5x value, 1.5x points): RB Leonard Fournette, Buccaneers ($11,700)

There are a lot of reasons to like Fournette as Captain in this spot. First, Tom Brady is nursing a sore thumb. While it’s not an injury that will sideline him, it’s reasonable to expect the coaching staff to manage it responsibly on a short week. Fournette leads the team in touches and has earned a respectable 10.9 percent of the team’s targets. He’s surpassed the 100-total-yard plateau in back-to-back weeks and found paydirt in Week 5. Considering the Eagles’ No. 23 ranking in rush DVOA, the Buccaneers should be able to find running lanes if they lean into a ground-and-pound approach.

FLEX: QB Tom Brady, Buccaneers ($12,400)

The price tag on Brady as a Captain is simply too steep considering the thumb ailment he will play through. Brady has surpassed 30 DraftKings points in four of five contests this season — including 40.7 in Week 5. There are simply too many weapons at Brady’s disposal and methods through which he can produce to justify shying away from him completely. Whether he’s limited physically or managed through a conservative game plan, Brady should still be able to threaten 25 DK points.

WEEK 6 DFS LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel | Yahoo

FLEX: QB Jalen Hurts, Eagles ($11,800)

Hurts has 30-point upside and will likely be called upon to use his legs and his arm to move the Eagles offense, especially considering the struggle the Eagles are likely to have getting their backfield going. Remember, Tampa Bay has fielded one of the game’s top run defenses since 2019. The Eagles have rushed on just 36.9 percent of their plays, and Hurts has accounted for 38.1 percent of those attempts. The more incentive to place the ball in Hurts’ hands, the better.

FLEX: WR Antonio Brown, Buccaneers ($8,200)

As we’ve discussed with the Buccaneers this season, it will be difficult to pin down the weekly wide receiver winner in this offense. Chris Godwin may be “due” if you believe in that, but he’s dealing with knee and ankle injuries that have limited him in practice this week. Brown has been a reliable and explosive target for Brady this season, notching a pair of 100-yard games and collecting three scores. If Godwin is slowed by his ailments, Brown is more than capable of handling a few extra targets on Thursday night.

WEEK 6 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: TE Zach Ertz, Eagles ($3,200)

Tight ends have accounted for 25.7 percent of the Eagles targets this season. With Dallas Goedert likely to miss this week’s contest while on COVID-19/reserve, Ertz stands to receive an uptick in usage. He’s earned an average of seven targets over his past three games after totaling four over the first two.

WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX: RB Kenneth Gainwell, Eagles ($2,400)

We don’t like betting on running backs against the Buccaneers’ stout run defense, but Gainwell is more of a “satellite” back than someone who’s going to be asked to bang it in between the tackles 15-20 times. Gainwell is third on the Eagles in touches and has been more efficient than his higher profile — and priced — backfield mate, Miles Sanders. Gainwell has actually been the more efficient back in a number of areas, and if he can garner another 10-plus touches — something he’s done twice this season — he could deliver a profitable DK score.
