‘There’s no saving you’: Rochelle Humes stuns Phillip Schofield with innuendo
The Saturdays star – who is filling in for Holly Willoughby on the This Morning sofa for the next couple of weeks – was discussing Phil Vickery’s upcoming cooking segment when she accidentally made a rather rude comment about his soup and toastie dish.
While her co-host insisted he doesn’t like dunking biscuits – but bread and soup is fine – Rochelle replied: ‘I will definitely dunk all Phil Vickery has to offer – oh my God!’
She instantly cracked up as Phil and the rest of the studio burst out laughing over the slip-up, and the 59-year-old star admitted while he’s no stranger to this kind of situation, there was nothing he could do this time.
‘Normally I try to help, I don’t think there’s anything I can say. I can’t help you,’ he giggled as Rochelle admitted there was ‘nothing’ he could say to save the situation.
She tried to valiantly soldier on, adding: ‘Later on, Phil is making a cream and chicken soup… and I’m gonna dunk all those toasties in the soup.’
However, Schofield wasn’t going to let it go as he laughed: ‘There’s no way you’re digging yourself out of that! If this show was recorded, we’d go back. we’d do it again. I can’t help you!’
Rochelle admitted she said it ‘with her chest’ which sparked more giggles from the set as she insisted ‘that was fine’, but her co-host told her to ‘stop speaking’.
Even cutting to the usual Loose Women preview didn’t spare her, as Ruth Langsford immediately jumped on the awkward situation and didn’t let either of them off the hook.
When it was time for Vickery to join with his cooking segment, Rochelle insisted she’d be keeping quiet, joking: ‘I daren’t say anything now. I’m just going to eat.’
Conversation later turned to the chef’s tips for stopping a leek from getting too gritty, and she glanced at Schofield as she quipped: ‘No one wants a gritty leek!’
Without missing a beat, he replied: ‘It’s like a sandy clam. No one wants a sandy clam – we’ve have those, haven’t we?’
Some things never change.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
