The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Weighs in Notably Bigger Than Its Predecessor

The upcoming sequel to Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, seemingly weighs in notably bigger than its predecessor.

As a matter of fact – the highly-anticipated sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild will be the biggest first-party Nintendo game to date. As listed on Nintendo’s official website for the upcoming game, Tears of the Kingdom will weigh in at 18.2 GB in size – roughly 30% larger than Breath of the Wild, which clocked in at approximately 14.4 GB. Quite the difference when it comes to file size for sure. Still, file sizes don’t necessarily translate to actual in-game sizes, but they do sometimes provide an indication.

Of course, we’re talking about Nintendo’s own games as there are currently far larger games available on the Switch, including NBA 2K21, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Mortal Kombat 11, Doom: Slayer’s Collection, and L.A. Noire. All of these third-party titles weigh in roughly 30GB or more with NBA 2K21 measuring over 40GB on Nintendo’s hybrid platform.

Tears of the Kingdom received a brand-new trailer earlier this week alongside pre-order details. You’ll find this trailer below:
