The Gap hoodie is the latest Y2K trend to have a resurgence

A wardrobe staple of the 90s and 00s is back.

The Gap hoodie is making a triumphant return to mainstream fashion after a lengthy hiatus.

Along with tramp stamps, low-rise jeans and skinny brows, the humble Gap logo hoodie is the latest in a long line of unlikely Y2K comeback trends.

The revival is mainly down to TikTok, where posts tagged with #gaphoodies have now racked up 8.3million views.

The comeback is especially surprising considering that last year it was reported that Gap wasn’t doing too well following lockdown – with 350 stores due to close stores in North America by the end of 2023.

But now, as other Y2K trends roll back around, it seems the nostalgic brand is growing in popularity – along with its trademark piece.

The Gap hoodie – a former fashion favourite loved by 90s models, suburban dads and pre-teens – has recently been spotted on style influencers such as Ocean Lewis and Emma Chamberlain.

Even fashion and beauty TikToker Lola Clinton Hayward – who has more than 78,000 followers – predicted back in December that Gap would make a comeback for 2021.

Almost two decades since its heyday, Gap is now growing in popularity amongst younger generations – and the brand have even signed a 10-year-long deal with Kanye West for a Yeezy-Gap apparel line.

So, if you have an old Gap logo hoodie lying around in storage, it could be time to dig it out.

Or, alternatively, pop it up for sale and you could make a hefty profit, as it seems some original Gap hoodies are re-selling for quadruple their retail value.

Here are some different ways to give your beloved childhood favourite a 2021 update:
