Liver cancer isn’t always keen to present with warning signs. However, an expert has shared that an “early” sign might crop up during mealtimes. Here’s how to spot it.
Lisa Jacques, Cancer Nurse at Perci Health, said: “Liver cancer does not always have symptoms, and when it does, they can be hard to spot.
“If there are symptoms, they are the same whether the liver cancer started in the liver (primary liver cancer), or if cancer has spread to the liver from another part of the body (secondary liver cancer).”
Medical Doctor from GlowBar, Joseph Ambani, explained that one sign can appear “early on” during the course of the daunting disease.
Ambani said: “Generally, people living with liver cancer will find themselves losing their appetite for food or being unable to eat as much as before due to abdominal discomfort or nausea.

“Additionally, those affected by the disease may find that even eating small amounts causes pain and discomfort in the stomach area.”
Therefore, changes in your appetite could help ring alarm bells and alert of the serious condition.
However, the expert explained that this sign could be triggered by many other health problems.
This makes awareness of other symptoms front and centre, with 10 signs worth knowing, Ambani added.
He said: “Common early warning signs include abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and the eyes), an enlarged abdomen due to fluid build-up (ascites), shortness of breath, fatigue or weakness, and nausea or vomiting.
“To identify potential liver cancer, pay close attention to your body’s warning signs.”
Despite these symptoms being considered some of the key signs of liver cancer, they can be very “common”, Jacques explained.
The nurse added: “These symptoms can be caused by conditions that are not cancer.
