Who is Gabby Windey?

Gabby Windey, 31, is a cheerleader for NFL’s Denver Broncos, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, she showed her passion extends beyond the field.

When the Covid-19 pandemic closed stadiums and hospitals were in dire need of staff, Windey, who had been dancing since the age of 12, focused her energy on saving lives.

She had been a nurse for three years when she was hired to be a cheerleader for the Denver Broncos in 2016.

During the pandemic, Windey put the majority of her focus into her nursing job and worked 12 hours or more.

The result of her efforts was winning the Pop Warner Humanitarian Award in 2020– alongside the Cleveland Chiefs lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif – making her the first woman to receive the award.

Typically, only NFL players receive the award.

In the press statement put out by Pop Warner Little Scholars, it said, “Windey and Duvarney-Tardif’s selflessness and commitment to helping others are an embodiment of sacrifice and teamwork, making them model representatives for young student-athletes across the nation.”

What challenges has Gabby Windey faced on The Bachelorette?

There are always twists and turns with unexpected surprises on The Bachelorette, and the episode that aired on August 15 was no exception.

The much-awaited cocktail party was canceled after contestant  Logan Palmer tested positive for Covid-19.

His positive test means he will be eliminated from this season ahead of the episode in which the remaining contestants will take Windey to their hometowns.

Host Jesse Palmer visited Windey to inform her about the canceled cocktail party and Logan Palmer’s positive test.

“I know you’re really excited about tonight, but we do have a situation with one of your guys,” he said.

“Logan tested positive for COVID-19. He’s doing fine, but we’re trying to take a real abundance of caution for yourself and the rest of your guys. We have to cancel tonight’s cocktail party.

“I know how important it was and how much you were looking forward to it with hometowns on the horizon.”

Windey told the cameras she was “feeling really sad,” about the canceled cocktail party.

“I have four men left and I really needed tonight to help me figure out who was going to hometowns,” she said.

“There’s kind of a pit in my stomach that I have to make this decision. I’m not sure I‘m at a place where I can confidently give a hometown rose to all the guys.

“I want it to be the right person and I think these couple of weeks is really pivotal. Every second counts. This is actually really scary for the future.”

Palmer’s departure came after he told co-bachelorette, Rachel Recchia, that he would be pursuing Windey instead.

He told Recchia: “[He has] feelings for Gabby….I’m going to have to step away from pursuing things with you.”

In an Instagram post, Palmer apologized to Recchia and wrote: “I’m sorry that I added more difficulty to an already challenging journey.

“That was never my intention, but it was inspiring how strong you were through it all.”

Who has Gabby Windey dated?

Windey has dated previous bachelor contestant Dean Unglert, 30, who appeared in season 13 of The Bachelorette.

He was eliminated in week eight but later returned to Bachelor in Paradise for the fourth and sixth seasons.

Unglert had only kind things to say when the producers of The Bachelor asked about his ex-girlfriend.

Windey and Unglert dated when they were 19 years old and Unglert said she was the “second love of his life.”

On his podcast, Unglert said he told producers, “Oh, she’s great. If she gets selected for the show, she’ll either win the show or she’ll be the next Bachelorette.’ And I firmly believe that.”
