Nintendo has been receiving messages of congratulations from across the industry regarding the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This includes messages from both PlayStation and Xbox.
Both the official PlayStation and Xbox Twitter accounts tweeted out commemorating the launch day. While the three companies are actively competing in the home console hardware market, it’s always refreshing to see the companies publicly supporting one another every now and then, especially when a highly anticipated product is released.
It’s good to be back in Hyrule.
Congrats @NintendoAmerica on Tears Of The Kingdom!
— Xbox (@Xbox) May 12, 2023
PlayStation added congratulations of its own.
Have fun up there, Hylians! ☁️
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) May 12, 2023
This isn’t the first time a platform holder has congratulated one of its competitors on a major release, of course. Other examples of these companies publicly supporting one another include PlayStation and Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser congratulating Xbox for the launch of its Xbox Series X and S consoles back in 2020.
Regardless, it’s a big day for Nintendo and the games industry at large. In our review of Tears of the Kingdom, which we awarded a 10/10, Tom Marks called it an “unfathomable follow-up,” to 2017’s Breath of the Wild, saying that Tears of the Kingdom is “raising the bar ever higher into the clouds.”
