Tata Altroz CNG version launched at starting price of Rs 7.55 lakh

The CNG version of Tata Motors’ premium hatchback Altroz was launched on Monday at an introductory price of Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom all-India).

As per a company statement, there will be six variants of the Altroz iCNG on offer. The variants are priced between Rs 7.55 lakh and Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom all-India).

The new version comes equipped with a twin-cylinder CNG technology. The twin CNG cylinders are fitted below the luggage area. The valves and pipes stay protected under the load floor, which minimises the risk of potential damage, Tata Motors said in a statement.

It boasts of a host of advanced features such as voice-assisted electric sunroof, wireless charger and air purifier, etc.

Other premium features include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, R16 diamond cut alloy wheels, an 8-speaker touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity.

Tata Motors expects the Altroz iCNG to bolster its ‘New Forever’ range and sustain growth momentum in its passenger cars business.

Car buyers are increasingly picking alternate fuel options as they look for economical as well as eco-friendly models, and due to that reason CNG is gaining a wide acceptance, the company said.”With the breakthrough of the twin-cylinder CNG technology and advanced features we are expecting more personal segment buyers to strongly consider this optio,” the statement noted.

According to a company official, “Our multi-powertrain strategy in the Altroz portfolio today offers petrol, diesel, iturbo and iCNG, providing an array of options for the customers to choose from.”

Extra safety features
It has a micro-switch that can keep the car switched off while being refuelled. Besides, a “thermal incident protection” feature can cut off CNG supply to the engine and release gas into the atmosphere, which is a safety enhancer.
