TAMWORTH

BEST BET

Race 4, No.1: AMULET STREET

He’s been running lots of placings at the provincials when trained at Godolphin and is now racing in a much easier part of the state for new trainer Clint Lundholm. Won’t be a maiden for much longer.

NEXT BEST

Race 2, No.2: SUPERDEEL

He arrives in Stirling Osland’s yard rock-hard fit from John O’Shea’s stable. He is fourth-up at a mile and wasn’t that far away at the provincials when being trained in Sydney. He finds this much easier.

VALUE BET

Race 5, No.7: AH WELL

She won at this level two runs back and was super when running on from near last in the Gilgandra Cup last time and if he starts at double figure odds that’s well overs.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 1, 4, 7, 8

Race 6: 1, 2, 6, 7

Race 7: 1, 4, 6

Race 8: 5, 11, 12

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Grant Buckley should have success on the likes of Superdeel, Moree Dreaming and Chain Of Lightning.

TRAINER TO WATCH

Cody Morgan should be winning a number of races at his home track and Anethole, Kanalaide, Casino Lord and Highlights look like his leading chances.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR TAMWORTH

RACE 1

Casino Lord has almost win his past two races in Highway grade and off that he’s going to be one of the best chance on the day here. He’s won three from four at the track and ran second on the other occasion so he should start odds on and that’s fair enough. Stablemate Aytobe will provide a stiff challenge. He’s ran two and a quarter-length fifth behind Ten Bells in a Highway last August and that’s super form and his fresh record is pretty good. Mabel came home very nicely to win fresh over 1000m and look for this progressive filly to come home hard again. This looks a cracker race.

Bet: Trifecta 2, 5, 3

RACE 2

Superdeel comes to the Stirling Osland stable from John O’Shea’s yard after good enough runs at the provincials. He is fit and should be hard to beat in a country maiden. My Diamond Boy ran above his odds second-up on the Beaumont track and finds an easier race here so he’s well placed by Scott Singleton whose stable is going great at the moment. Electric Daisy drops back from 2000m to 1600m which is often a good formula and she’s run quite well here this time in.

Bet: Superdeel to win

RACE 3

Geisel likes to put himself right on the speed and he might even lead them into the home straight here and he’ll be in this for a long way and would’ve taken fitness benefits out of that fresh run. Indicative has run second at his past three and gets the barrier here to land in the best spot on the rail behind the speed and should have plenty of energy for his attack on the field in the straight. Sindagar comes to Todd Howett from the John Sargent yard and had two placings from four runs including one at provincial level so he should run well and it’s good to see him at 1400m fresh.

Bet: Exacta 7, 9

RACE 4

Amulet Street has run in the top three eight times from nine career starts but hasn’t been able to win one yet. He’s been racing mainly in provincial grade to date but is now trained at Dubbo and has to be breaking through soon. Anselmo likes to be on the speed and make his rivals work for a win. He’s placed five times in seven starts and will push them all the way again. Civil War wasn’t far off winning in midweek city grade fresh last preparation and a repeat of that form makes him a major player in this part of the state.

Bet: Amulet Street to win

RACE 5

Highlights gets up to 1600m now which is a good thing for him after a much-improved second-up run over 1500m. He’s third-up and ready to win. Fanmalia gets the perfect run on transit here from the gate and has won at this track before but still needs to lift a length or two to win this. Ah Well drops a little in grad here after running on nicely last start and she’s back up to a mile now which is a positive after winning over the trip two runs back. She’s in great from and can win this one.

Bet: Ah Well to win

RACE 6

Does the veteran Akasaki still have another win left in him? On his latest form you would have to say yes. He’s drawn well (4) and has won at the track before from his only start here. Anethole comes into this off a Highway win at Randwick so that form needs to be respected as does his record at his home track where he’s run first and second from two attempts and 1200m now should be a plus. He beat home Midsummer Rain that day and she isn’t meeting him any better here under the conditions but has drawn slightly better.

Bet: Akasaki each way

RACE 7

Still In Fashion has to lug 62.5kg – 11kg more than he carried when running a very good third behind the red-hot Banju in a Highway race three weeks ago. That’s super form for this grade of race but the big weight rise has to be a query. Crimson Rose smashed them here last start at a Sky 2 meeting and now has a wide gate to she’ll need luck but has been very consistent for a while now. Kanalaide is going to improve second-up and rain won’t be an issue for this horse at its home track.

Bet: Kanalaide to win

RACE 8

We get to see how well So Country handles a wet track for the first time. He’s had a very consistent start to his career with a win and three seconds from four runs and is trained at the track. Chain Of Lightning won on debut and it was pretty soft on the line over 1050m and she’s even better suited going up to 1200m. She’s Contrary looks to have plenty of upside and will like getting her toe into the ground. She comes into this off no trial but is in the hands of a leading trainer.

Bet: Chain Of Lightning to win
