Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky ‘definitely dead’ after Creed 3 trailer

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky ‘definitely dead’ after Creed 3 trailer

Sylvester Stallone’s first big break was as Rocky back in 1976, a part he’s been Oscar-nominated for twice over the course of almost 40 years. After six movies as the boxer, the franchise received a reboot with Creed, in which his character mentored his old ring nemesis’ son. After two movies with Michael B Jordan as the young athlete, the third is on the way but where is the original star?

The Creed III trailer has Jordan’s Donnie on top of his game as a boxer with Tessa Thompson’s Bianca Taylor by his side. That is until Jonathan Majors’ Damian “Dame” Anderson shows up at his gym bringing up something uncomfortable from his past after spending 18 years in prison.

The new movie focus on their clash in the ring, shouldn’t Rocky be mentoring Creed through his latest challenge? The old boxer has the briefest of mentions from Donnie in the trailer and fans are terrified that the 76-year-old Hollywood legend’s iconic character will be killed off in the third film’s opening.

Rocky could well be killed off in the opening of Creed III, although having survived cancer in the first two movies this would be a bit much.

What’s more likely is that his character is alive out there but won’t feature in this instalment unless in a cameo at the end. We think he’ll probably sit out of this one, a film Jordan is also directing, but could well return in the future of the franchise.

Creed III hits cinemas on March 3, 2023.
