Swans take Pride in St Kilda thrashing

A dismal night in Sydney for St Kilda may yet be compounded with Zak Jones likely to face some interest from the match review committee for a high bump on Swan Luke Parker.

Jones was standing still and appeared to stand up as Parker arrived on the scene. Parkers head making heavy contact with Jones’ shoulder.

He spend several minutes on the bench, but returned to the field and played the match out.

The Swans have moved to within a game of second place on the ladder after thrashing the Saints by 51 points in the annual Pride match at the SCG.

Isaac Heeney kicked three for the Swans, while Ryan Clarke picked up two, as did Tom Papley the second of which was is 200th goal in the AFL.

The Saints led briefly mid-way through the first quarter, but conceded back-to-back majors to trail at the first break.

Despite having field position for a majority of the second term, the Swans were not able to convert, kicking just 1.5 to lead by just 16 points at half time.

The arm wrestle continued early in the third, before the Swans finally managed to string four straight goals together to put the game to bed.

Two late majors for the Saints slightly flattered the score line – which remained their lowest ever against the Swans.
