Finally, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has come to the Super Bowl.
The WWE legend channeled his days as the People’s Champ and proved himself to still be the most electrifying man in sports and entertainment as he kick started the big game like only he can.
Not content with narrating a fiery video montage, Dwayne turned back the clock and brought a taste of The Rock to proceedings as he delivered an epic speech befitting WrestleMania itself.
Standing on the field in front of a packed SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California – the site of WrestleMania 39 in 2023 – he said: ‘Finally… the Super Bowl has come back to Los Angeles!
‘It is time. Time for a team to unleash a soul crushing, unrelenting defense, a head-spinning onslaught of an offense, and take care of unfinished business right here, right now. Ladies and gentlemen, the champions of the NFC… your Los Angeles Rams!
‘It is time. Time for a team that has risen from the ashes to become one of the most feared, dominant, absolutely electrifying teams in the NFL! Time to give their city their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, the champions of the AFC… your Cincinnati Bengals!
‘It is time. It is time for all of us here and millions around the world to bear witness to these incredible players, who will leave every ounce of sweat, guts and pride and legacy on this hallowed field, because that is what champions do.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honour to say that finally… it is time for the Super Bowl!’
WWE made its mark on the Super Bowl this weekend, from The Rock’s opening packed to a pair of adverts for WrestleMania itself, while the Los Angeles Rams celebrated with custom-made championships sent by the company.
It was an emotional moment for The Rock, who dreamed of winning the Super Bowl one day – but it wasn’t to be as his life took a different path.
Before he took to the field, he wrote on Instagram: ‘My biggest dream was to play in the NFL and win a SUPER BOWL. I worked my ass off for years and just knew I was going to will that dream to come true.
I failed and none of it happened. Just wasn’t my journey. Now, years later, life has come full circle as I will stand on the 50 yard line at the Super Bowl — and galvanize, bring together and electrify 80,000+ passionate football fans who love the game like I do.
‘Funny how life works sometimes. My football dreams failed, but many years later – they kinda came true. In a much bigger and more influential way.’
