Steven Gerrard has already warned Manchester United about Philippe Coutinho
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has already warned Manchester United about Philippe Coutinho, but the Old Trafford giants are initially set for a reprieve.
The 29-year-old former Liverpool playmaker has completed a sensational return to the Premier League.
Coutinho was linked with several clubs in that regard, but the Barcelona man settled on Villa – where the Brazilian will be reunited with his captain from those memorable days at Anfield.
Having tested positive for Covid-19, the marquee loan recruit had to isolate in Spain meaning that he has missed the cut-off to play against United in the FA Cup on Monday night (7.55pm).
However, with the teams due to lock horns for a second time in six days in the Premier League on Saturday, there remains a chance that Coutinho might be handed his debut against the same opponents.

Speaking about the Barcelona star, Gerrard said: “He’s a wonderful footballer. To share a dressing room and a pitch with Coutinho was an absolute pleasure, because he was on a level that very few footballers are on.
“His imagination, creation and, also, some of the highlight reels are incredible for all to see. I think the name speaks for itself. You’re talking about a world-class individual player.”
