Kenny Pickett kicked off summer 2023 by saying, “I do.”
The second-year Steelers quarterback wed fiancée Amy Paternoster on Saturday, roughly a year and a half after getting engaged.
The 25-year-old Pickett dressed in a classic black suit and back bowtie for the big day while Paternoster, a Princeton University graduate and former collegiate soccer player, wore a gorgeous slim white gown that showed off her shoulders. It had an open back and was topped off by a long veil.
Pickett reposted a number of attendees photos and videos to his Instagram Stories, including them having their first dancing on smoke-filled floor, enjoying a kiss while walking back down the aisle and feeding each other the wedding cake.
Months after making their relationship Instagram official in April 2021, Pickett proudly announced their engagement in January 2022.
“Got tired of calling you my girlfriend… here’s to a lifetime with the person I cherish more than anything in the world. You make me a better person and I could not imagine life without you. I love you more forever and always!!” he posted on Instagram at the time.
Paternoster supported the former University of Pittsburgh quarterback throughout the pre-NFL draft process and was present the night the Steelers selected him 20th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft
“Words cannot describe how proud I am of you, nor how happy I am to see all of your dreams come true,” Paternoster gushed on Instagram in April 2022.
“There is nobody more deserving of this! I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you have yet to accomplish. Let’s go home!!!”
In his first season with the Steelers, Pickett appeared in 13 regular-season games, throwing for 2,404 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
He also rushed for three touchdowns.
Paternoster, who supported Pickett at games throughout the year, recapped the couple’s first NFL season in a January Instagram post.
“Lookin back on Year 1 and forward to the next,” Paternoster captioned the collage of photos, which featured her and Pickett posing on the field at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium.
The couple has spent a good portion of the offseason preparing for the wedding, with Paternoster’s loved ones throwing her a bridal shower in May.
Leading up to this weekend’s festivities, however, Pickett and Paternoster had to politely pass on Taylor Swift’s blockbuster “Eras Tour,” which played back-to-back nights at Acrisure Stadium earlier this month.
“I hope she can forgive us, but maybe we’ll be at the next one,” Pickett said.
Perhaps the newlyweds will receive tickets to a future Swift show as a wedding present.
