Star Wars Comics Writer Charles Soule Is Now a Lucasfilm Creative Consultant
Charles Soule, the author behind many Star Wars comic books, has taken on additional responsibilities at Lucasfilm as a creative consultant.
On Twitter, Maggie Lovitt of Collider pointed out that Soule was listed as a Lucasfilm creative consultant in his bio for the upcoming Star Wars Celebration. Soule himself responded, “Guess this is getting out there — very excited about this new role! It’s been a blast so far, and is letting me do some really cool stuff in the galaxy far, far away… TL;DR — I’m officially a Creative Consultant for Lucasfilm, and it’s cool.”
Soule will be a featured guest at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, representing Disney and Luscasfilm’s Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative alongside Cavan Scott and Daniel José Older. Soule’s full bio reads as follows:
Charles Soule is a #1 New York Times bestselling novelist, Eisner-nominated comics writer and screenwriter. His notable stories include groundbreaking runs on Daredevil and She-Hulk, the mega-bestsellers Death of Wolverine, The Rise of Kylo Ren and Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith and original series Letter 44, Curse Words and Undiscovered Country. In addition to his work in comics, he was a primary architect for the hugely successful Star Wars: The High Republic initiative, works as a Creative Consultant for Lucasfilm, Ltd., and has written three acclaimed novels for HarperCollins and Del Rey. He lives in New York.
Over the past several years, Soule has written numerous Star Wars comic book series under the Marvel Comics banner, including Lando, Obi-Wan and Anakin, Poe Dameron, Darth Vader, The Rise of Kylo Ren, War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, The High Republic: Eye of the Storm and, of course, the most recent iteration of the publisher’s main Star Wars series. Soule also authored the 2021 novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which was published by Del Rey and served to kickstart the High Republic campaign.
Soule is evidently set to play a major part in continuing to build The High Republic, which is notably looking to expand beyond the realm of books and comics. The Acolyte, a live-action Star Wars series set during the waning days of the High Republic era, is currently in the works for Disney+. Meanwhile, a High Republic-set video game titled Star Wars Eclipse is being developed by Quantic Dream.
