The Devil Wears Prada may have come out in 2006, but we’re still holding out for an eventual sequel.
The film based on a young journalist called Andy, who ends up working for ruthless magazine editor Miranda, starred Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt.
He played Nigel, who is Miranda’s right-hand man, and then eventually gets betrayed in the movie’s climatic end. While Emily plays Emily (easy to remember), who is pretty committed to the fashion world but still gets outdone by Andy.
Fans will be happy to hear that Stanley, 62, is up for a sequel if a script was ever created.
He told Metro.co.uk at The Prince’s Trust Awards: ‘I would bring him back.’
It’s been 17 years since the film’s debut and so things would likely have moved forward for Nigel in that time.
Stanley believes he would have one major personality change: ‘He’d be a little bit kinder this time around.’
He added that ‘love’ would be the reason we see the difference.
‘Emily and I joke about it [a sequel] but I don’t think it will happen.’ We’ll pretend he didn’t say that second part.
‘It was fun I have to admit,’ he added.
The film has a special place in Stanley’s heart as it led him to his wife – Felicity Blunt.
Stanley was at co-star Emily Blunt’s wedding to John Kransinski in 2010, and it was here he reconnected with her sister Felicity after initially meeting at the premiere for Devil Wears Prada.
He was previously married to Kate, who passed away from cancer in 2009.
Another film we may see Stanley in is the iconic franchise James Bond, as he’d be up for playing a supporting character.
‘If they want me, I’ll take it.’
While speaking to us at the Prince’s Trust event, which was held at Theatre Royal Drury Lane to recognise extraordinary young people he told us his Citadel co-star Richard Madden would be an excellent choice.
The show is about a spy agency, so he’s already halfway there to be fair.
‘I would love to see Richard as James Bond. That’s up to a lot of different people though, not me.’
He adds that ‘everything’ about him makes him a good contender: ‘He’s smart, he’s handsome, he’s cool and he’s a nice guy.
