Staggering sum of jewellery worn to the Coronation is more than £542k

Queen Camilla and Princess Kate stunned guests at Westminster Abbey on May 6 when they stepped out adorned in royal jewels.

While King Charles proudly wore St Edward’s Crown, Camilla waved to crowds while wearing Queen Mary’s Crown on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Other royals styled more low-key pieces, though many of them had an impressive price tag.

Amongst the most expensive jewels include the Queen Consort’s Lahore diamond pendant necklace.

Queen Camilla

The Coronation necklace was made by Garrard for Queen Victoria and presented to her in 1858. Consisting of 25 graduated “brilliant diamonds” and a 22.48-carat diamond pendant, the luxurious piece is best known as the Lahore Diamond.

While it is not known exactly how much the Coronation necklace costs alone, the estimated value of it combined with Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation earrings is thought to be worth £300,000.

Princess Kate

The Princess of Wales is one of the most senior members of the Royal Family, and wore jewellery to match. Kate stepped out in a wreath-style headpiece designed by Jess Collett and Alexander McQueen.

With her hair in a neat updo, Kate showed off a pair of pearl-diamond earrings which once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. While the sentiment of the jewels is priceless, the earrings are estimated to be worth around £1,320.

Princess Beatrice

Stepping out as a vision in pink for the Coronation, the 34-year-old looked stunning in a £695 dress.

The fuschia-coloured design cost just a fraction of the price of her earrings, which carry a hefty price tag of £37,000.

Described as the Garrard Blaze Pink Saphire style, the Rubellite and pink opal hoop earrings are made from 18-carat rose gold.

In addition to the jewels, Beatrice also wore a beige “Etta” headpiece, costing £675.

Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall arrived hand-in-hand with Mike Tindall, wearing a cornflower blue dress with shoes to match.

Her glamorous style was completed with a sentimental brooch passed down from her mother, Princess Anne, which featured a diamond badge and tassel detail.

The star of her outfit was a pair of £29,900 earrings by Calleija Nieva – a brand with whom she has her own collection.

Crafted from 18ct white gold and over 4ct of brilliant white diamonds, the pendants feature a detachable tassle which Zara removed on this occasion.

Princess Eugenie

The heavily pregnant Princess opted for a navy ensemble, with white gold jewellery to match. She chose opulent pieces for the occasion, including breathtaking Albemarle High Jewellery Diamond Earrings in 18ct White Gold (£26,000).

According to the designer, they were inspired by the pattern of diamonds that encircles the base of the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara – the same tiara worn by HM Queen Elizabeth on the front of every British banknote.

Eugenie also styled the Albemarle High Jewellery Diamond Collar Necklace in 18ct White Gold, from the same royal jeweller Garrard. The statement piece retails for £130,000.

The total cost of the aforementioned pieces worn by the Royal Family totals around £524,895.
