Spectacular Ford Escort Mexico tribute up for sale at auction

A stunning Ford Escort Mexico tribute is going under the hammer at auction and could fetch a huge price.

The immaculate retro Ford is based on a 1979 Mk2 Escort and has been treated to a jaw-dropping restoration that has left it looking in tip-top condition.

Based on an imported car from Australia, the tribute is finished in Signal Yellow paintwork, which was one of the original Mexico colour choices, while it also includes the correct black pinstripes, badging, front bib spoiler and RS rubber decklid spoiler.

It really has been a ‘no-expense-spared’ project that took the Escort back to a bare shell before being worked on.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre Pinto petrol engine, and there’s a five-speed manual gearbox which should please petrolheads, along with the addition of a genuine RS three-spoke steering wheel.

With temperatures rising, it’s probably a good thing that the classic Mexico also comes with air conditioning.

However, the ‘MEX100’ registration is not included in the sale.    

The seller has commented that the Escort is in ‘show-quality condition,’ while Collecting Cars – who are handling the online sale – said: “Ford Escort Mk2 builds completed to this standard are a rare find… not only benefiting from comprehensive cosmetic refurbishment but also a raft of high-quality upgrades to deliver an enhanced driving experience.”

Bidders will have to be quick, as the online sale ends at 7.50am on 26th May.
