Sony PlayStation 5 and Mjolnir Life Size Models Arrive At Gurugram; Records Strongest Quarter Yet With 32 Million Consoles Sold

PlayStation marketing in India has increased tremendously over the past years. We have seen a spike in the marketing PlayStation has been doing in the country since the arrival of God of War: Ragnarok.

Firstly, we saw the Santa Monica title taking over the Mumbai Metro, as the entirety of it was wrapped in God of War branding. During the game’s release window, we also saw a huge range of places hosting midnight launches for the title.

Now, PlayStation has done it again, and their latest piece of marketing includes a giant sized PlayStation 5 model, along with a giant sized Mjolnir model, placed right in the center of Cyberhub, Gurugram. It is certainly brilliant news that PlayStation is taking such initiative to reach out to the Indian people.

Khumail Thakur was the one of the first individuals that had spotted the huge PlayStation 5 and Mjolnir models in the middle of Cyber Hub and Gurgugram. Through the images posted by him, you will be able to understand the actual scale of the models that have been placed by PlayStation, check them out below:

PlayStation 5’s Strongest Quarter Since Release

PlayStation 5’s are the consoles that players have been wanting since it was announced. Since its release, it has been very hard for players to get their hands on the console, as the supply for it has been scarce. Due to that the demand was unbelievably high and the company had to provide a workaround to increase their production.

It seems that the increase in production has come through as Sony’s latest earnings call iterates that PlayStation 5 has had its biggest quarter yet. 7.1 million units have been sold in Q3 of FY22, which is 3.8 million units more than the earlier quarter, Q2 FY22. It is also 3.2 million units higher than the previous strongest quarter, which was Q3 of FY21.

Moreover, it seems that the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers and monthly active users were at a high too. In terms of PlayStation Plus members, 46.4 million new members were recorded in Q3 FY22 and monthly active users were at a record high, with 112 million active users. Players should also know that the cumulative number of PlayStation 5 units sold till 31/12/22 has come up to 30 million.

PlayStation 5 Sales Target Increased

As the PlayStation 5 has had an extremely strong quarter, it seems their sales target for the year to March 2023 has been increased. This information comes from a report by Reuters, which states that the console’s sales target has been increased from 1 million units to 19 million units.
