There’s some good news coming to all Sky Q users. The satellite TV firm has just announced a renewed partnership with ITV with the two companies promising, “an enhanced viewing experience across all of ITV’s content and services.”
Perhaps the best bit of this upgrade is that the new agreement will bring the full ITV content experience to TVs via deeper integration with Sky’s latest and greatest set-top box. The current integrated ITV Hub service on Sky+ and Sky Q will be supplemented with the launch of the popular ITV Hub app on Sky Q.
This update will take place next year with Sky saying that it will provide Q customers with more choice and flexibility, including the option to watch all of ITV’s available programmes within the ITV Hub user interface.
Speaking about the changes Carolyn McCall, CEO of ITV, said: “We welcome the way Sky has continued to improve its product offering because viewers and commercial customers are at the centre of what we do as a business.
“For ITV’s viewers, the partnership ensures that they have easy and widespread access to our breadth of programmes, ensuring that they can view ITV’s content in the most convenient and appropriate way to them.”

And Stephen van Rooyen, Executive VP & Chief Executive, UK & Europe at Sky added: “ITV have been a longstanding partner to Sky and we are pleased to be deepening and extending our relationship. The great content provided by ITV will sit together with all the apps and content our customers love, and the ever-expanding slate of award-winning Sky Originals, all in one place on Sky Q.”
This latest news from ITV and Sky follows a similar announcement from Channel 4.
The new multi-year agreement, which was revealed earlier this month, builds on the existing partnership which allows Sky customers to watch a swathe of on-demand programmes via the All 4 streaming service.
The TV firms say this new update will make even more Channel 4 content available to Sky customers straight from their remote.
The broader range of Channel 4 shows will include more than 1000 hours of All 4 Exclusives. That’s in addition to the current catch-up and boxsets that Channel 4 already offers Sky users.
Along with these new agreements between ITV and Channel 4, there is more good news for some Sky users.
It’s been confirmed that Sky Q will bring High Dynamic Range (HDR) to its live sports coverage for the first time this summer. HDR will be combined with Ultra HD (4K) broadcasts to create the best possible viewing experience for Sky TV customers.
More than 200 hours of live action from Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be available in HDR and Ultra HD via Sky Q’s dedicated Eurosport 4K channel.
Starting from Friday August 13, Sky Q viewers will be able to watch Premier League action live in Ultra HD with HDR. The new format will kick off with Brentford vs Arsenal at Brentford Community Stadium.
