Singer’s warning after rapid Covid test

Despite being double-vaxxed and returning a negative test, singer Tottie Goldsmith has been admitted to hospital with Covid.

Former Chantoozies singer Tottie Goldsmith has been hospitalised for Covid-19, despite a previously returning a negative rapid antigen test.

Currently recovering at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, the double-vaccinated performer and actor warned fans to go straight to a testing clinic if they begin experiencing symptoms.

“If you do get any symptoms, go and get a proper test done because the first one came back negative and now I’ve risked giving it to other people,” she shared in an Instagram post.

Ms Goldsmith, 59, said she took the rapid test when she first felt symptoms of a cold, however she “kept going” once returning a negative result.

In her Instagram caption, Ms Goldsmith said she had friends who also weren’t “feeling great” so she “put it down to a common flu”.

“I had to work so did an antigen test that read negative,” she wrote.

She then woke up with a headache that felt like she’d “drunk a bottle of scotch,” which was when she took another rapid antigen test which this time, came back positive.

“I feel like sh*t, to be honest,” she said.

“I had a really upset stomach. Today I woke up and everything tasted weird. The headache is like I’ve drunk a bottle of scotch.”

Ms Goldsmith said she’s also struggling with the fact she may have passed it onto other people.

“I’ve risked giving it to other people. That upsets me more than being sick to be honest,” she said. “I’ll just deal with my guilt that I’ve potentially spread it to other people. That my friends, feels really bad.”

Responding to Ms Goldsmith’s video, several celebrities have wished her a speedy recovery and thanked her for sharing her experiences.

“So sorry to hear you are unwell Tottie. While we await (your) hopefully speedy recovery I thank you for going public to remind us all that this pandemic is ongoing whether vaxxed or not,” wrote singer-songwriter, Ross Wilson. “You’re in good hands – get well pronto.”

Olivia Newton-John – her aunt – also wrote: “My poor baby! I love you my niece️. Hope you feel better soon.”

Packed to the Rafters actor, Rebecca Gibney also shared her well wishes.

“Oh honey – hope you’re ok? That’s total shite. Sending all the healing love there is,” she wrote.

Recently AFL star Jonathan Brown and his nine-year-old son also tested positive to the virus.

Despite also being double-vaccinated, the radio presenter said he began to feel unwell on Thursday before retuning a positive test later that afternoon.

“Thursday afternoon, I said to Sam (Pang), I was playing golf with him and I leant on him and said, ‘I think this is the end’,” he told his fellow Nova breakfast show hosts, Chrissie Swan and Sam Pang on Monday morning.

“Pang will be my witness. I said to him in the carpark Thursday night, I said, ‘I’m feeling a bit crook, I’m not right.’”

Later that evening he took a rapid Covid test, which revealed he was positive for the disease.

“Then it came up positive and I rang Pangy and rang our work, Nova, and said, ‘I came up positive pretty quick, I think we probably need to put something in place where everyone gets tested.’ So I did the right thing.”
