Simon Cowell had once been ambivalent about the idea of settling down into domesticated, married life. TV’s notorious Mr Nasty, who is currently overseeing auditions on a brand new series of Britain’s Got Talent, had never been married before.
In spite of a brief whirlwind engagement to makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy back in 2010, it seemed he would never tie the knot.
However he now has seven-year-old son Eric to consider, and news has broken the doting father is finally due to marry the mother of his child, Lauren Silverman.
The ecstatic bride to be broke the news to Simon’s brother at 4:30 in the morning.
“When I first heard the news… I immediately thought of our mum, Julie,” Tony told Best magazine.

“She would have been overjoyed with the news, and it’s sad to think she is not here to see her son finally tie the knot.
“She always wanted him to settle down with a family.”
He added: “I picture her looking down and saying, ‘And about time, Simon!'”
Lauren is Jewish, an identity she shares with Simon’s father, so there is a link between the two families.
She told Tony she received the proposal on a romantic trip to Barbados and he finally popped the question on Christmas Eve, leading her to exclaim: “I am so happy!”
“To be honest, I’m not surprised by the news,” Tony explained. “Since having his son, Eric, with Lauren, Simon has completely changed his life and, for the first time, he appears to be happy and content.”
According to Tony, his dramatic transformation occurred after the traumatised TV judge fell off his electric motorcycle and broke his back, right at the peak of the pandemic in 2020.
“I believe that accident was the catalyst for Simon,” he revealed.

“He began to think about his future, and who to share it with.”
He added of his choice: “I am very fond of Lauren; she is both a caring mum and a loyal companion to Simon.
“She is constantly reaching out to all our family; and was incredibly supportive to all of us following our mum’s death in 2015.”
He claims if the choice is down to Simon, he is likely to opt for a “private ceremony”, but the situation could still go either way.
“Lauren may well favour a glitzy celebrity do,” he mused.
“I’m sure the wedding will be held in London. As for the date, well I’ve not been told that, yet.
