Shark smells blood: After BharatPe and Grofers, Ashneer Grover says it’s time for ‘third unicorn’

New Delhi: Ashneer Grover, the controversial former managing director of BharatPe, said in a tweet on Tuesday — his 40th birthday — that he is preparing to disrupt yet another sector and create his “third unicorn”.

“Today I turn 40. Some will say I’ve lived a full life and experienced more things than most. Created value for generations. For me it’s still unfinished business. Time to disrupt another sector. It’s time for the Third Unicorn!!” Grover said in a tweet.

Grover has held key positions at companies like BharatPe and Grofers. BharatPe became a unicorn after it secured $370 million in a Series E financing led by Tiger Global Management in August last year.

Grofers joined the unicorn club in 2021 after raising $120 million from food delivery firm

.

Grover’s post comes months after BharatPe’s board of directors removed him from all positions at the company and stripped him of his cofounder tag over
alleged financial irregularities and governance issues during his tenure.
