Shabaash Mithu Trailer: Taapsee Pannu hits the ball out of the park as Mithali Raj

The first full-length trailer of Shabaash Mithu is finally out. Starring Taapsee Pannu, the film is a sports biopic based on the ace Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, Mithali Raj. Directed by Srijit Mukherji, the film revolves around her inspiring journey. 

The trailer opens with our closest look yet at Taapsee Pannu as Mithali Raj on a pitch. In a voice-over, Taapsee’s Mithali narrates her story of having big dreams of forming an all-women’s team, “women in blue” since the tender age of eight. We then get a look at a younger Mithali. We also see the struggles faced by the women’s cricket team as they go up against crushing odds to pave their way in the world of cricket.

Taapsee Pannu looks convincing as Mithali Raj. From everything we see in the trailer, the film is poised to play out a rousing sports drama. 

The film’s tagline reads, “A tale of one of the Greatest Of All Times in the world of cricket! The Legendary Mithali Raj! Witness the story of her spirit, her passion, her courage, and her dreams!” 

Shabaash Mithu is directed by Srijit Mukherji and written by Priya Aven. The film arrives in cinemas on July 15.
