Section 35 dispersal order after fighting in Erith

A Section 35 dispersal order has been authorised by the Met Police around Erith School, now King Henry School, in Avenue Road, Erith.

This is due to large-scale disturbances in the vicinity of the school and reports of males fighting at multiple locations.

The order began at 5pm yesterday and will remain implemented until 5pm tomorrow (January 22).

A Section 35 dispersal power can be used by police officers and designated PCSOs to deal with individuals aged 10 or over who are engaging in anti-social behaviour or crime and disorder, not only when they have occurred or are occurring, but when they are likely to occur and in any locality.

Erith Secondary School in Bexley has 1,793 pupils, which far exceeds the country average. With only 44.6% girls and 55.4% boys, the school has slightly more males than females.

It has 125 members of staff, which far exceeds the average, and a 14-1 teacher/pupil ratio, which is typical for the UK.
